The route follows NCN 7, one of Sustrans’ first Scottish routes and takes in old railway lines, a canal towpath, a riverside path and quiet roads on its way to Balloch.

You will pass through the towns of Clydebank and Dumbarton as well as some smaller settlements that link their bigger neighbours.

There are plenty of places to get refreshments at half distance in Balloch, but why not bring a little picnic to enjoy on the shores of Loch Lomond.

Throughout the route there is an impression of a rural landscape with a huge amount of history along the way.

Although the route can be enjoyed on any type of bike we would advise using either a Road bike or a Hybrid Bike to make covering the distance easier.
