Kippax Leisure Centre

This fantastic Steady route heads out from the Kippax Leisure centre and it's not long before it ventures off the road using sections of ‘The Lines Way’ to get out to the RSPB St Aiden’s Bird Sanctuary. This disused railway line has now been developed into a recreational route linking Garforth and Allerton Bywater and is popular walkers, cyclists and horse riders alike. The route uses the cycle path for about a mile before reaching St Aiden’s and starting the journey reedbeds and listening out for the deep booming call of courting bitterns. With great scenic views, vibrant wildlife to look out for and a causeway to negotiate this route will definitely have your senses stimulated.

The route then heads past Lemon Royd Marina and has a short run alongside the River Aire returning to ‘The Lines Way’ to get back to Kippax Leisure Centre.
