Ennerdale Water

This route will take you through one if the most beautiful and remote landmarks in the Lake District.

Water is always close by as you skirt around the edge of Ennerdale Water, cross the River Liza and a beautiful waterfall.  You may evern get the opportunity to see some of the local wildlife including Grebe ducks, Geese and Swans.

As you cycle along the valley you will be towered by some of the well-known mountains like Pillar, Honister and Scar Crag.  While in the wood you have a great chance of spotting deer, stags, fawns, buzzards and you may even hear the distinctive sound of a cuckoo.

The route is best suited to bikes with off-road tyres as it travels along a number of different surfaces including rough packed shale, loose chippings, grassy banks and stone.

Your surroundings will be changing all the time on this ride however there are plenty of places to stop take in the views, take a photo or grab a bite to eat.  There is nowhere to buy refreshments on the route though, so do come prepared.
