This is a fantastic family route to Rodley Nature Reserve via the spectacular Medieval Cistercian Kirkstall Abbey from Armley Mills Industrial Museum, taking in some of the wonderful scenery on the Aire Valley Tow Path before reaching the Nature Reserve. The route passes Kirkstall Brewery en route before entering the Abbey grounds. With so much to see it's hard to believe you were so close to the city centre!

The route is largely traffic free as it stays mainly on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal all the way to the Reserve where you can watch wildlife in its natural habitat. There is also a Cafe at the Nature Reserve ideal for refreshments before heading back. At just over 10 miles this route is perfect for families and cyclists who want to ride in a traffic free environment and go that little bit further on the bike!

This ride uses part of National Cycle Network (NCN) route 66. To find out more about the NCN and other great places to cycle near you everyday, go to the Sustrans website (http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/national-cycle-network).

Rodley Nature Reserve is open Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and most Bank Holidays: March to October – 9am to 5pm | November to February – 9am to 4pm

The Visitor Centre is open from 10am until 4pm throughout the year.
