Wyken Wander

This is an easygoing ride ideally suited to those who do not currently cycle very often, but would like to use their bike to begin exploring the local area.
The route is a mix of traffic-free paths and some on-road cycling, however don't worry if
you have not cycled on the road very much, as your Ride Leaders will lead you around the
route and shepherd you safely through the junctions.
From our starting point we'll do a circuit of the park, with views of the old castle ruins, to get our legs warmed up. Leaving the park, we head off towards the Ansty Road which we'll cross by the pedestrian crossing before heading off along Wyken Croft to the nature park. We make our way across the park for the first time, taking the path which follows the route of the River Sowe until we exit at the Ansty Road once more. A short walk up the road to re-join another path takes us
back through the park once again. This time we head to the northern end where we briefly ride
along Henley Road before making our way back into the park for a third time to re-trace our steps back to our starting point. Most of the paths through the parks are well surfaced, but some are tracks across the grass so not particularly suited to road bikes with narrow tyres.
There are no refreshment stops along this route, so bring a snack and drink with you if you
wish.
