Billie Fleming rode 29,604 miles in 1938. A world record. Inspired by The Women's League of Health and Beauty she found herself a sponsor to give her a bike and thought she could champion the principles of fitness and wellbeing for women by riding her bike on an extensive tour of the British Isles. Starting on 1st January 2015, a woman or group of women will ride the distance Billie Fleming cycled on that day in 1938, and so on, through every day of 2015 until 29,604 miles have been cycled over 365 days. September 30th is to be an International day of celebration in the celebration year, with women invited to ride ten miles together on this day. Join us to celebrate Billie and promote Breeze and women's cycling. We'll be doing a sociable, gentle paced ten mile ride from The Cycle Hub and would love it if you could join us and help inspire other women to ride their bikes. Bring a friend, a colleague, a neighbour, a child and inspire them too! To make this a really something grand we'd love it if you wanted to dress up a bit with us. Any costumes from any decade in the past 100 years would make for some smiles and be a beautiful tribute to the 100 years of Billie's life. If you don't have chance to dress up, but want to help us make a really special photo with lots of impact we'd love it if you could wear bright red or pink or a bright coloured scarf or buff. The more colour we can get in our picture the better. Best that it's something should be something you can ride your bike in! We're hoping to be able to use the photos for a press release or two (but don't worry, you don't have to be in the shots unless you want to!) The Cycle Hub are kindly staying open for us get a cake and a cuppa afterwards. There may even be a little special treat for everyone taking part. Please bring a layer against foul weather, an inner tube, some cash for a cuppa and a big smile! All levels of rider welcome, and we'll offer a shorter beginners ride on the night too. Everyone welcome. We'll be finished by 8.30 at the latest. Find out more about Billie - http://www.tributetobillie.co.uk/billieprofile.htm
