Open event: Wollaton Newstead Circular Information of event https://otbtwalking.wixsite.com/nottinghamcycleteam/copy-of-attenborough-trent-1 Date May 2017 at 10.00 About the ride Approx 24 miles. Some nature trails including the Lindy Trail Relatively easy going. Few ascents/Descents, mainly flat. Hybrid/Mountain Bikes recommended. Ages 12+ Locations enroute: Wollaton Hall, River Lean, Bestwood Country Park, Linby Trail and Newstead Abbey. Route A nice ride along the Linby Trail, starting at the Hall in Wollaton Park we join the nearby R6 cycle path which takes us along the trail through both towns and nature paths via Bulwell Bestwood and Linby to the Abbey at Newstead. The trail is not to bad for tired legs as most of it is flat. The City end has a few minor uphills but nothing too long or that pose a problem even for new cyclists. The trails are both gravel tracks and dirt trails with some lovely views of the Nottinghamshire suburban countryside. The journey is not too strenuous and does cover several trails so wider wheels are better. We travel with no mechs and techs or Meds so please be able to tend to yourself and your wheels, however if we can help we will obviously :) Helmets must be worn to ride on these events and no wheelies please! Refreshments There will be an opportunity to stop off at the Abbey for a look around, there is a cafe for hot food and refreshments. Or plenty of grassy areas and benches for a picnic and drinks break. Start line and directions The main doorway to the Hall in Wollaton Park, where the turning circle is. We will be assembled here. 10 am start ride leaves approx 10 minutes after this. Expenses and Contacts Nottingham has a train station for those not mobile in a car, also so does Beeston, these are the closest stations to the Hall. Alternatively if you do drive, the Park has a substantial Car Parking area. Also the city centre has multiple parking opportunities for those who wish to add a few extra miles to the ride.
