Route using cycle paths and quiet roads to travel to Wintersett reservoir from Huddersfield, picking up at Dewsbury. ( 10:45 ish) Ride length from Dewsbury is about 30 miles. Then largely on cycle paths to travel to Horbury via Ossett where there are on-road cycle lanes. Going through the Secret Bridge, where there are short steps either end up/down which the bike must be carried, through Durkar onto Wood Lane and picking up the cycle path through woodland skirting Notton, a pleasant village, then on quiet roads in open countryside to Anglers Country park There is a cafe open for a snack and some picnic tables. If the weather is good the cafe and tables may be busy, so be prepared. Food is good for a mid-ride top-up and prices fair. Bike racks/stands are available so please think to bring a lock.
