This New Year, earn rewards for your winter miles with #BreezeThroughWinter.
We know it can be difficult to find motivation to stay active over the winter months, so we’re making it a little easier by rewarding everyone who completes four HSBC UK Breeze rides from 1 January to 28 February with a cycling goody bag.
This ride is an introduction to roads with a loop round Chapletown, Egerton and Bromley Cross The route starts at the main entrance of Turton High School/Sports Centre. From the school we will travel along the undulating Chapletown Road passing Turton Tower and then take a left passing St Anne's church and the Chetham Arms pub. We'll then follow Greens Arms Road taking in views of Wayoh and Entwistle reservoirs. The road continues to undulate until we meet up with Blackburn Road and can enjoy the long predominantly downhill journey back to our starting point. The entire route is about 8 miles and the ride should take approximately 1.5 hours.
As this is our first road ride of the year we are expecting it to be at a relatively slow pace with us all cycling at the pace of the slowest rider. Experienced and faster riders are very welcome and can use more testing gears to strengthen their legs whilst keeping at a slower speed. We always guarantee lots of fun and laughter.
Please note this ride does include a 400ft climb so we would recommend some experience on hills, however, we are never to posh to push if a breather is needed! There won't be a cafe stop on this ride, so please remember to bring a drink as we can stop for a quick rest and drink. Helmets must be worn by all under 18s regardless of ride level and are strongly suggested for all riders. Please bring equipment with you to repair punctures, Ride Leaders are there to help but are not responsible for your bike and wear clothes suitable for the weather conditions on the day
