Winkwell Swing Bridge and Little Heath Pit Ride

This ride takes you to Winkwell to see the swing bridge over the Grand Union Canal, The Three Horseshoes a Public Horse since 1535, the boatyard, marina and River Bulbourne. We'll then move on to Potten End to see the recently excavated Little Heath Pit, a shoreline of the North Sea some 2.5 million years age. Finally we'll visit the lovely little village of Potten End with its school, pub and church all around the village green with pond before heading down towards Winkwell enjoying the views as you coast down the hill on the return journey. * Please do not use the Rugby Ground Car Park as parking for this ride. If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
