Live2ride, Waterloo, Frome (bike shop)

This route is designed for those of you with 100km sportives looming but anyone is welcome who is capable of riding 100km at a reasonable pace (10 - 12 mph). However, apart from a few hills, including one big hill (which can be missed out) it is a relatively flat route along the Wylye Valley to Wilton & back again. The route is most suited to road bikes/fitness bikes rather than mountain bikes. Starting out from Live2Ride shop in Frome we will go upBath Street& out of Frome to the Blatchbridge roundabout. We will turn left, then right to East Woodlands & into the back of the Longleat Estate on Route 24. We will then practice our ascent of Longcombe Drive before turning right & past Nockatts Coppice & then left towards Longbridge Deverill. We will then cross the A350 & head toward Sutton Veny & along the quiet Wylye valley to Wilton. A cafe stop at Wilton is scheduled in before retracing our steps to Horningsham. This time we miss out Longleat estate & return via the B3092 through West Woodlands & Blatchbridge. I would strongly advise fitting, at least, a rear mudguard (if you have one). This keeps you drier but it also saves the rider behind you from getting a face-full of spray. The lanes are a little wet & mucky & it's also hedge-cutting season, so please don't forget 1or 2 spare inner tubes. Please check that your bike is in good working order & that your tyres are pumped up. Please only sign up if you know that you are capable of this type of ride, as it will mean being in the saddle for 5 - 6 hours in total. Having said that, no one will be left behind you are welcome to take breaks to catch your breath &/or re-fuel.  You are also welcome to join me for half of the ride & then arrange a lift fromWilton. To reiterate please don't attend this ride if you're not prepared to moderate your pace to suit the slowest rider & to enable me to keep the group safely together.  Don't forget a waterproof, layers of warm clothing, a drink & some snacks, a rear light & a small lock if you have one.  I plan to stop off at a cafe at the half-way point in Wilton. I look forward to seeing you all there. Course: http://connect.garmin.com/course/5821018
