(0) ReviewsA partial road/off road guided led bicycle ride, using Minor B roads to join the Walsall Canal at Owen Road Willenhall. The led ride then follows the Walsall canal right through to the Crown Wharf.
Half on road and half off road (canal towpath/redundant railway line/dry canal bed) the most suitable bicycle(s) are, Mountain Bicycle or a Hybrid bicycle fitted with off road tyres.
The led ride offers many opportunity's for avid photo album fans. We have many wild bird species up and down the canal towpath. We also cycle past the John Edward Gray canal side wall mural. John Edward Gray was a famous 19th century Zoologist who lived in Walsall. His many contributions to science of identifying species became renowned and led to some of the species being named after him as a mark of respect, 'Salvelinus Grayi' being one of those species he discovered. Just moving on from the John Edward Gray wall art we partake in a Cost Coffee located next to the Walsall New Art Gallery. We then move on, travelling through the locks on the Walsall canal through Birchills as we make our way back to the Willenhall Memorial Park.
Wearing of bicycle helmets is mandatory on this bicycle led ride due to the vegetation (some low hanging tree branches) on the canal towpath. To enjoy your led ride, please bring with you the following items, A drink container. Any spare inner tubes suitable for your bicycle. A puncture repair kit. A light snack(s) for you to replenish energy levels if required. So, have a hearty breakfast and see you soon.
