Wigans Waterways

Starting from Winstanleys bikes , we will drop down the back of Robin Park and onto The Leeds & Liverpool Canal which takes us round Wigans Famous Pier , then we head out past Scotsmans Flash , and past Pennington Flash through Leigh on the Bridgewater Canal, and then onto Astley where we will stop for a quick drink and a snack at The Old Boathouse .
This ride is suited to Hybrids , MTBs , Cyclocross bikes as it is almost all on the canals so very little on the road , we will ride at a nice chilled out pace , no racing and will not be leaving anyone behind .
Please check your bikes over the night before , and make sure you bring a couple of spare innertubes and a means of inflating them . Also a problem a few have had with replacement tubes lately , you must make sure your valve stem is long enough for your rims , a lot of newer bikes have deep rims and you cant get the pump onto the valve .
