Wigan To Worsley For Dinner Canal Ride

Starting off from Challenge Way ( not far from Winstanleys Bikes and also Muddy Fox ) we head down onto Stadium Way and head past Wigan's Football ground and follow The River Douglas up to The World Famous Wigan Pier (if anyone can actually find the pier!!) . We then head out of Wigan along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal through to LEIGH AND EVENTUALLY Astley by the colliery , we then head up to the A580 and use the nice smooth tarmac cycle path and eventually pick up a nice trail (ex railway )  down into Worsley where we get back onto the Bridgewater canal to the food stop . The food stop could be the secret garden café , or a Brewers fair Public house depending on numbers . The return is more or less the same route back . Please make sure you check your bike over the night before and carry a couple of tubes and means of inflating them , also some money for food etc . Please make sure you carry suitable clothing too , this route is suitable for mountain bikes /hybrids /cx bikes as there could be a bit of mud on one section . The majority is very good paths .
