Wheel Do It! with Full Gas Bikes - To Winscar Reservoir

This ride from Full Gas Bikes at Fox Valley in Stocksbridge, begins by passing through Deepcar, along some pleasant lanes and then through Penistone. We then then head west through Thurlstone and Carlecotes before climbing up past Winscar and Arden reservoirs and looping round back to Thurlstone, and through Penistone again. We'll pass back through Oxspring and drop back down to Full Gas Bikes. Although there a few sections of A-road with some fast-moving traffic, the majority of the ride is on quiet roads. The ride takes us along some stunning roads with some striking panoramic views of open countryside, hills and moors. The ride is best done on a road bike although it could also be done on a hybrid with road tyres (note that heavier bikes, such as most hybrids and especially mountain bikes, are harder work on the hills). Although there is quite lot of climbing and a few moderately steep hills in this ride, we’ll take it steady and stop for breathers whenever we need to. If you need to walk up any of the steeper bits, that is fine – we won’t leave anyone behind. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS We recommend that you wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather. As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; you should also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump, and tools to enable you to change a tube if necessary. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
