Wheel Do It! with Full Gas Bikes - to Thurgoland and beyond!

This ride from Full Gas Bikes at Fox Valley in Stocksbridge, begins by passing through Deepcar and along the lanes through Thurgoland and north towards Cawthorne. We'll then head west to Ingbirchworth Reservoir before curving round to the east and through Thurlstone, Penistone and Oxspring back to Full Gas Bikes. Although there a a couple of short sections of A-road with some fast-moving traffic, the majority of the ride is on quiet lanes (there is one short stretch of lane with a very poor surface, but it is still navigable on a road bike). The ride takes us through some very pretty wooded lanes and open countryside with some spectacular views. The ride is best done on a road bike or a hybrid with road tyres (you are welcome to come on a mountain bike, but will find it harder work). Although there is quite lot of climbing in this ride, we’ll take it steady and stop for breathers whenever we need to. If you need to walk up any of the steeper bits, that is fine – we won’t leave anyone behind. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS We recommend that you wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather. As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; you should also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump, and tools to enable you to change a tube if necessary. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
