Full Gas Bikes, 2 Fox Valley Way, Stocksbridge, Sheffield

Here is a challenge for those of you want to ride further and climb higher. This Wheel Do It! challenge ride starts at Full Gas Bikes and heads out through Penistone along the roads towards Dunford Bridge, turning right past Winscar Reservoir and up Hade Edge. We then head east through rolling hills and pretty lanes towards Kexbrough, before turning south and returning via Silkstone to Full Gas Bikes for a well earned coffee. [Note: the route may be subject to minor alterations if necessary after we have ridden and double-checked it] This is a great ride to do if you have been building up to in on other Wheel Do It! rides, and we have several more rides to help you prepare over the next few weeks (check out the Wheel Do It! group on goskyride.com for details). This ride has some long and occasionally steep hills and there are a few short sections where fast moving traffic may be present (the majority is on relatively quiet roads and lanes). The ride is best done on a road bike or a hybrid with road tyres. Although there are some steep hills on this ride, we'll take it steady and it is fine to walk up the steeper bits if you need to. We promise not to leave anyone behind. Don't forget to bring sufficient food to keep you going (gels, chocolate, flapjacks or similar) and plenty to drink (water, energy drinks, etc.). There are limited places to buy food drink on the route. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS We recommend that you wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather. As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; you should also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump, and tools to enable you to change a tube if necessary. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
