About the route
Starting point
South Yorkshire S36 2DS
Here is your chance to enjoy the stunning views around Upper Midhope from two different directions. We'll set off from Full Gas Bikes out of Stocksbridge and up to Mortimer Road before passing the Mustard Pot and continuing up a steady climb to Upper Midhope. From there we ride around Midhopestones Reservoir on lovely country lanes that take us back to Mortimer Road. We then turn left down the hill and take a right before we reach the Mustard Pot and continue along undulating lanes until we reach a right turn onto Long Lane. We then have a short, steep descent down Wind Hill Lane before we climb back up onto Mortimer Road. A left turn then takes us around a slight hill before turning left onto Wind Hill Lane. After a moderately steep descent we have a short, sharp climb that takes us onto Long Lane. Another left turn takes us back around Midhopestones Reservoir in the opposite direction before we return to the Mustard Pot and then retrace our route back to Full Gas. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS We recommend that all participants wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather. As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; we recommend that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump (CO2 inflators are also highly recommended). If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone. DISCLAIMER This is a purely social group of like-minded people sharing a love of cycling, it is not a formal organisation nor does it have any form of legal structure. You are free to choose to ride with us but in doing so please note that you do so in acceptance that this is entirely at your own risk.
