Start of Loxley Road at the bus stop immediately after the pedestrian crossing/traffic lights.
This ride gives you a choice of two distances. Both options begin with the steady climb up Loxley Road past the Nag’s Head, turn left at the Dam and then pass through Low Bradfield. We’ll climb up Blindside Lane, pass the Strines Inn and take the first right to drop back down Dale Road to Low Bradfield. Here there are two options:
Option 1: stop at the Flask End café while the other group completes option 2. You can either wait for the other group to complete their option (probably an hour or maybe a little more) or have a coffee/cake and then ride back to the start in your own time. The total distance of this option is 18 miles.
Option 2: Carry on with the ride, which continues back up Blindside and completes a longer loop of Strines before returning to Low Bradfield via Agden Side Road. We’ll stop at the Flask End Café for coffee and then ride back to the start point. The total distance of this option is 28 miles.
Although there is quite bit of climbing in the longer option and a moderate climb in the shorter option, we’ll take it steady and stop for breathers whenever we need to. If you need to walk up any of the steeper bits, that is fine – we won’t leave anyone behind. As with all Wheel Do It! rides, the aim is to enjoy the trip and to complete the ride in your own time – there is no pressure to ride any faster than you feel comfortable with.
