Shobnall Leisure Complex

This delightful ride, at just over 4 miles, follows the National Cycling Network route 54 through Shobnall Park and out on to the purpose built cycle path that runs parallel to the Trent and Mersey Canal. The next section is known as the ‘Kingfisher Trail up to Eton Park School’ where we will hopefully catch a boat navigating the lock at Dallow Bridge, but don’t worry if we don’t as the wildlife is varied and sometimes even shares the path with us!  At Eton Park we will pass by the totem pole before a brief section on a very quiet estate cul-de-sac road.  It does have a pavement running parallel to it if we feel like walking that bit.  We then join up with the towpath and make our way to the cycle path on Princess Way.  We remain on the cycle path up to the entrance of Pirelli Stadium. There is time for a break and photos outside the main entrance of the football ground before we then retrace our tracks back to Shobnall via the same route.  This is perfect for beginners and families with young children, although we would welcome anyone to join on this social ride through one of the scenic areas of Burton upon Trent. Not cycled for a while and looking for an easy way to get back in the saddle? Fancy a fun way to get your friends or kids riding? Our Easygoing rides are great for building confidence for all abilities and ages along relaxed, mostly traffic-free routes. They’re up to six miles long, with a gentle pace of around six miles an hour.
