Weekend Breeze to Finchale Abbey

A lovely 9 mile ride starting at County Hall to the historic site of the Benedictine Priory at Finchale. Our ride uses a mixture of off road (pretty good quality surface) and minor roads.  We'll descend from County Hall to the River Wear at Crook Hall and then climb up to Brasside to then enjoy the descent back down to the river at Finchale. Here there's a cafe and a chance to have a look round the Priory.  We'll return by a slightly different route.  Each way will take about 45mins riding with an approx 1/2 hour stop at Finchale.   Although this ride is only 9 miles it is hilly so please be prepared for this.  However, hills also mean views and some enjoyable free wheeling.The ride is suitable for all types of bikes. Under 16's must wear helmets and advised for everyone else.  Please make sure you're suitable dressed if it's chilly.
