For Week 3 of our Confidence Programme, we are stepping things up a gear to help you feel more comfortable on different types of terrain. This week’s route gently introduces a bit more quiet road riding and some small hills, providing the perfect, low-pressure opportunity to practice your climbing, descending, and gear selection. To really build up that confidence, we'll probably do a few steady laps of the hills rather than just riding up them once—giving everyone a fantastic chance to find their rhythm and get comfortable with the slopes. As always, we will keep the pace completely social and conversational, and our ride leaders will be right there to guide you through the junctions. It’s all about building your skills at a manageable pace, and absolutely no one will be left behind!

This week we will be progressing from traffic-free cycle paths onto a mix of quiet, "well-surfaced" residential roads. There will be a few small, gentle hills to tackle, giving you a perfect environment to practice riding alongside light traffic, navigating junctions safely, and choosing the right gears for climbing and descending. We will avoid any busy main roads, keeping the environment calm and manageable for everyone.

Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing (layers are ideal) and bring a suitable rain jacket or windproof coat just in case. A well-fitting cycling helmet is mandatory for all participants. Make sure to bring a full water bottle to stay hydrated, and ensure your bike is in clean, roadworthy condition before arriving. We also highly recommend carrying a spare inner tube that fits your specific bike tyres, along with tyre levers. If you have a preferred pair of clear or tinted cycling glasses, they are great for keeping the wind or occasional road grit out of your eyes as we step things up this week.

We never leave anyone behind
