Leo's carpets, Whalley New Road, Blackburn BB1 9AU

This is a chance to try out the Weaver's Wheel, a new cycle route which goes round Blackburn. We leave from Leo's Carpets, Whalley New Road and head up Emerald Avenue onto the cycle path along the by-pass. We carry on this road to Whitebirk where we divert across the old canal bridge to emerge at the McDonalds. No time to stop for a Happy Meal as we divert along residential streets and cross Accrington Road to join a path way along the Knuzden Brook into the township of Shadsworth. Cycling along the Arran Trail we emerge into the Industrial park and then go down Blackamoor Road to join the River Darwen Parkway above Ewood Park. Crossing the A666 we join the canal towpath to Cherry tree where we divert off and head over a footbridge over the railway into Witton Park. From here we cycle through onto Buncer Lane, where we turn left and head up the hill to revidge before cycling through Beardwood to join the by pass near to the Rugby club. From here it is a gentle ride down to Brownhills and back to our start point. Total distance is 14 miles with a smidgeon less tha 1000 feet of climbing. As much of the ride is off-road, there may be some squidgy sections especially if the weather is damp so please be prepared. With the nights drawing in, please make sure that you have working lights fitted. All are welcome For more details, visit busstopbikers.co.uk
