This 20 mile round trip takes us from Watford to St Albans. It takes in the Gorhambury Estate and passes the remains of Verulamiam. We head out through Leavesden, Abbots Langley and the birth place of the only English Pope. After refreshments at the Inn on the Park, the return is mostly on the Alban Way.

There’s a variety of riding environments including traffic-free paths, quiet residential roads, narrow country lanes and a few sections with heavier traffic. There are no lung-busting hills, but some sections will raise the heart rate and lower the gear.

Check your bike before the ride. Bring a spare innertube and tools to fix a puncture.

The time for the ride is a best estimate by the Ride Leader. Sometimes this can be affected by factors such as the weather, mechanical issues, the queue at the cafe, etc. We have a policy of leaving no rider behind so, if anyone is struggling, we will adjust the speed and take rest stops if necessary.
