At just under 40 miles, with 643 metres of climbing, this is a Challenging Plus Ride, at a relatively Faster Pace averaging 13+ mph over the hilly route. The route will take us out of Watford via Chandler's Cross, Belsize and Flaunden through some of the most lovely local country lanes through to Hemel. Here we will pass through the Old Town, climb Dodds Lane, and have a blast along Gaddesden Row, before descending Red Lion Lane. Frithsden Vineyard is a hidden treasure well worth finding, and we will have our coffee break there before returning back over the Chiltern Hills to Watford Cycle Hub.

This is our monthly relatively 'Faster Paced Ride' where we try to help riders begin to bridge the gap between 'Leisure Rides' and Club Pace. It's also for those training for longer sportives, e.g. 70 - 100 miles where a minimum pace of usually c. 12-13 mph is needed to beat the sweep on the route. We don't draft - so you'll get a good work out and can enjoy your well earned cake or blueberry scone at Frithsden Vineyard! :)

Please bring two spare inner tubes - as changing an inner tube is faster than getting out the rubber glue if punctures happen. The Ride Leaders can help if anyone in the group has a puncture on the day. Watford Cycle Hub sell inner tubes from £4 new, or recycled ones for 50p patched, £1 with no patches, should you need to purchase one.

Please check your bike is in good working order before the ride - especially that your brakes are working & your tyres are pumped to the correct pressure.

We are Not-For-Profit, do free bike assessments and should your bike need a tune up or a full service, we'll give you an honest price.

We look forward to riding with you. :)
