Starting point

This is our monthly second Sunday faster paced ride for leisure, road bikers who:
- want to bridge the gap between leisure rides and club level &/or want to train for longer sportives where being able to hit a minimum pace is required to enter.

This route has just under 820 metres of climbing / 2686 ft and takes in a climb up to the Ashridge Estate and a descent down the Ivinghoe Beacon. We’ll pass the Pitstone Windmill and climb up and over into Aldbury, before the ascent up to Wigginton. From Wigginton there’s a fast, gradual descent through the country lanes, followed by a weave through Ashley Green, Whelpley Hill and Bovingdon Green before heading back through Flaunden and Sarratt to Watford Cycle Hub.

This is a great mini-epic and a good stepping stone for preparing for longer, more challenging sportives.

It’s still a leisure ride and we don’t draft, but we will ride in close formation for group safety. As it’s important that the group can ride together for safety, if you find you are majorly off-pace, we may suggest taking the train back at Tring, if 25 miles or so a this pace is challenge enough for you, for now…Please respect the decisions of the Ride Leader Team, whose first responsibility is to run a safe ride.

We hope you have a great ride and enjoy the challenge of the route.

Please bring two spare inner tubes and a debit card / money - for refreshments, or in case you need to catch a train / get a cab back home.

Bikes must be in full working order for this ride.

We are Not-For-Profit, do free bike assessments and should your bike need a tune up or a full service, we'll give you an honest price.
