Comic Relief – Red Nose Day Ride!
Wear something red or buy your Red Nose and wear it on the day!

This 'Steady Plus' route is mainly along quiet, picturesque country lanes, with a few busier ones. There'll be some rolling hills, but no whoppers, with 208m / 682 feet of climbing in total. We are offering this ride at a steady average pace of 8-10 mph over the route. This will be a brilliant ride for you if you want to increase your distance and take on some rolling hills in a relaxed, supportive group.

The route takes us out through Chandlers Cross to Belsize and onto the verge of Bovingdon Green before heading back along the 'Holly Hedges Cut Thru' and returning via Sarratt and Loudwater.

Please consider the weather forecast on the day: wearing layers helps cope with Spring chills and a basic waterproof makes a good windproof layer too. Bringing a rucksack is useful - so you can take off / put on layers as you need. Gloves are also highly recommended.

We will stop at a pub for social time over refreshments or a light lunch - though bringing a drink & a snack with you for the ride is a good idea.

Your bike should be in good working order for this ride, e.g. both brakes working & tyres pumped – though we can help you get your tyres to the correct pressure if you arrive 15 minutes before the ride start.

Please bring a couple of spare inner tubes – as if you have a puncture, changing the inner tube is the quickest way to fix it and we will happily help you if you need.

Should you need to buy a spare inner tube, Watford Cycle Hub sell recycled ones at 50p (patched); £1 (unpatched); & from £4 new. We are Not-for-Profit, do free bike assessments and will give you an honest price if your bike needs servicing.
