NB: We are running this ride in TWO pace categories - this is the sign up for the relatively faster 12 mph+ group. If you can hit at least 12 mph over a hilly route - then this is the group for you! :) The route has 370 metres of climbing packed into under 20 miles & we hope to give this group a quick whip round, with a good coffee stop en route for some social time together before heading back. If you want to take it a little more leisurely, there's also a 10-11 mph 'leisurely' paced ride going out doing the same route: https://www.letsride.co.uk/rides/watford-cycle-hub-hare-hounds-leisurely-paced

Prepare for the chase as this ride takes you through Harefield (the Hare) and Dog Kennel Lane, Chorleywood (the Hound), two pretty Chiltern towns. In between, there’s pleasant rural scenery viewed from mostly quiet lanes. Your effort in ascending up to Harefield is rewarded by lovely views over lakes and waterways in the valley below. You then have a chance to relax as you swoop down to take a closer look at the Grand Union Canal, crossing over it at the end of the 220 foot descent.  The route from there continues on quiet country lanes through open fields and wooded areas before arriving at Chorleywood. You pass by the rail station and take a bridge over the lines at Chorleywood to follow a narrow road leading to Dog Kennel Lane, skirting around the County Heritage site and Local Nature Reserve of Chorleywood Common. We then head back to Watford through Loudwater, with a good climb up Solesbridge Lane! :)

Your bike should be in good working order for the ride. If in doubt, bring it along to us in the days before to check & fix it for you. :) Please check your tyres are pumped to the correct pressure & brakes are working the day before the ride. You can use our track pump or we can pump your tyres to the correct pressure on the day if you arrive at 9:45am. If there's an issue with your bike on the morning of the ride, please arrive earlier than this so it can be checked over for you and sorted pre-ride. :)

Please bring two spare inner tubes. Changing the inner tube is faster than fixing a puncture with a puncture repair kit. If you get a puncture on the ride - we will help you fix it! :) Watford Cycle Hub sell refurbished inner tubes for £1 (no patches); 50p (patched). New inner tubes are £4-6.

Please also bring money for the cafe if you want to buy refreshments at this week's coffee stop. :)

Any problems on the day or if you need to cancel last minute, please call Watford Cycle Hub on: 01923 223994
