M11 4TE
Starting at the Manchester Velodrome, this is a simple ‘there and back’ route that takes in a smidge of Ashton Canal and a lot of the Fallowfield Loop, affectionately known as the Floop. At around 98% tarmac and the rest on compacted sand or gravel we’ll start off on the Ashton Canal ascending 3 locks (2 x cobbled, 1 x mini cobble steps) before getting onto the Floop portion of what used to be the Stockport branch of the Ashton canal to take us to the main Floop at Debdale Park where we’ll follow it all the way to St Werberghs where we then join the roads for a small portion before we cross the River Mersey and head into Sale Water Park. Please note that we will be abiding by COVID-19 safety regulations: social distancing and mask wearing at rest stops.
Bike Type: Hybrid, MTB – there is compacted sand and gravel to contend with in a couple of small sections of the ride Surface: Tarmac, compacted sand/gravel
Café stop: Tree Tops café, Sale Water Park.
Please ensure you wear a helmet as I won’t allow anyone to participate without one. Bring cash for the Café, bike lock and puncture repair kit, and weather appropriate clothing – it is Manchester after all, so we could be turning into ducks, snowmen or cooking on the ride. It is unknown exactly how long we’ll be out for as it depends on who’s with us and how long we spend munching, so any end time on here is a pure guess!
We never leave anyone behind
