About the route
Starting point
Woolly Mammoth car park. Watermead Country Park, Alderton Close (off Melton Road). LE4 7RN
Mainly off road ride with a couple of quiet roads. Suitable for all bike types. Lovely scenic route passing the iconic Space Centre and through to Abbey Park before joining the Great Central Way from Bede Park.
Kings Lock Tearooms overlooks the meadows with the canal to the front and River Soar to the rear. Beautiful views from garden, horses grazing, swans and ducks many other wildlife to see.
Don't forget to bring money for refreshments at the tearooms.
Also, if you have a spare inner tube then do bring it along. Don't worry if you haven't got one, I always carry a spare.
