Starting point

Warwickshire
CV4 7EQ

A new route based on our popular 'out and back' 6 mile ride from Warwick University, which is a mixture of traffic-free and on-road cycling. At 7.5 miles it gives you the chance to stretch your legs and increase the mileage a little.

We start at the student union at the university, in front of the large outdoor screen, close to the Arts Centre. We'll wend our way through the brand new development to the west of the campus which leads us to the Cryfield Pavillion and sports pitches where we join the traffic free ‘Connect 2 Kenilworth’ route.

We'll follow the Greenway all the way to Abbey Fields, our halfway point and refreshments stop. Currently, the cafe is closed but toilets are available. We suggest you bring a drink and a snack if you wish, to have while we rest our legs for a short while.

Once suitably refreshed, we'll ride back down the drive and turn left, heading for the quiet country roads skirting Crackley Woods Nature Reserve. After about a mile and a half we then rejoin the Greenway making our way back to the uni.

When back on the campus, the final short stretch takes us to the impressive new sports centre, where we can pick up a coffee from Cafe Nero. Just a short trip along the cycle path then takes us back to our starting point.

For those of you new to the Let's Ride programme, our ride leaders, resplendent in their green tops, will be there at the start to welcome you. Please bring along a spare inner tube and pump just in case of a puncture. Adults can choose whether or not to wear a helmet, but this is compulsory for riders under 18yrs old. Keep a weather eye out, dress accordingly and don't forget to apply plenty of sun protection if we're lucky enough to have sunshine!

For those arriving with a car, parking (free at weekends) is available, with the central campus car park, by the old sports centre being the most convenient for the Student Union.

We hope you can join us, and look forward to seeing you!
Tony & Zorena, your Ride Leader Team.
