“Night Rider… a shadowy flight into the magical world of a forest that does not exist! Michele Night, a young at heart women on a crusade to champion the cause of the bicycle, the fun-loving, the adventurous, in a world of criminals who operate above the law…” (don’t you just love 70’s TV!... Knight Rider… remember!). OK back to the real plot… so this is a flat easy going night ride through Potterne Park and the Castleman Trailway on traffic free cycle paths but remember they will be dark as this is a night ride! Meeting up at Potterne Park we will first check to ensure your lights are working (front and rear) before heading off through Moors Valley joining the Castleman Trailway towards West Moors. Once we arrive at West Moors we will cross the road with care and continue on the Castleman trail through to the Forest Inn, (close to Police HQ), where we will have a tea / coffee stop and a damn good natter! Returning, the way we came, through tree lined flat cycle paths ending in Potterne Park. The ride is 99% off road with just one road to cross and a 100 meter road section in West Moors linking the Castleman together. I would recommend a hybrid or mountain bike as you will be riding forest cycle paths not roads. On agreement of the group, and weather dependent, we might shorten the route riding from Potterne through the Castleman Trail into West Moors stopping at the Tap and Railway… but only by agreement of the group. We will have emergency support for the ride for mechanical issues but please ensure your bike is road worthy as the forest will be very dark. In the case of any issue we will remain with the affected rider as a group. We will ride to the pace of the slowest rider, remember this is a group social ride and we will support each other. Riding at night is magical and exiting, so dig “Kit” out of the back of the garage and lets “Hasselhoff” out there! Requirements for this ride: • Lights: Front - 500 Lumens minimum (1000 L + preferred for safety). Rear light also required. Sorry but no lights no ride! • Bright Reflective Clothing / waterproof if the weather is inclement. • Helmets are strongly advised and remember to bring a water bottle with you. • Puncture kit / spare tube and pump. • Spare batteries for lights and suggest small torch as well. • Mechanical Support will be available. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR BICYCLE IS ROADWORTHY. Any questions call Paola on 07504620786 or [email protected]
