Bike ride Saturday 28 April Uxbridge to Windsor 25mile circular - meet 10.35 Uxbridge

Apr 28, 2018
(Cycling)

This is a lovely flat ride in countryside amongst the springtime flowers and a great introduction to those new to cycling. The cycling will be at a leisurely pace.

Meet at Uxbridge underground station at 10.35am outside the main entrance straight ahead from the exit barriers.

The bike ride will be along country lanes, public bridleways, minor roads, cycle paths and canal paths avoiding main roads.
The cycle route takes us through Langley park where we stop for a late morning coffee at the newly built café and view the rhododendrons and azaleas which may be in flower. We then head towards Eton and Windsor where we will stop for lunch at 'The King and Castle' pub opposite Windsor castle.

This is a Wetherspoons pub so food and drink will be reasonably priced and there is a garden.
For those who wish to bring a packed lunch, there are plenty of places to sit near the river at Windsor.

If time there may be a short visit to Eton and Windsor Brewery which is based in Windsor.

For those of you that wish to 'drop out' at Windsor, there are trains back to Waterloo direct from Windsor and Eton Riversiade rail station every 30 mins at 23 and 53 mins past the hour.

After lunch we will cycle along the Jubilee river on our return to Uxbridge stopping at The Toll House tea rooms or the 'Malt Shovel' pub at Cowley Lock for afternoon tea on the outskirts of Uxbridge.

Estimated finish time back at Uxbridge is 5.30pm.

Travel arrangements
Meet outside the main entrance of Uxbridge tube station at 10.35am. I'll meet you at the tube station. I will wait 5-10 mins just in case tube trains are late.

Take the Uxbridge branch Met line from Baker street at 9.54am which arrives at Uxbridge at 10.34am.

Alternatively take the District line from Earls Court, either the 9.32 Richmond service or 9.38 Ealing Broadway service then change at Barons Court where the Piccadilly line comes above ground. Or catch the Piccadilly line from Hammersmith at 9.50 arriving at Uxbridge at 10.32.
