Join us on this breath taking, scenic 22 mile ride up and around Cragg Vale and the Calderdale Valley area. The route begins in Mytholmroyd, Halifax, at the local public car park (HX7 5LN) and then takes us up the B6138 Blackstone Edge Road. However instead of climbing to the top we will take a right turn onto New Road and then for the next 8 miles we will ride along many undulating, peaceful, country lanes until we join Halifax Road and climb to Blackstone Edge Reservoir.
A long descent takes us down Cragg Vale and again along New Road to Craggies Cafe for a brew and a bite to eat (the locally produced Pork Pies are to die for).
We then continue on New Road to Sowerby Village and then it’s a right turn onto Pinfold Lane which takes us on an undulating country lane back to Mytholmroyd with fantastic views of Luddendenfoot and beyond.
Please bear in mind that we will be cycling in the magnificent Calder Valley so there will be a few hills to climb but the amazing views will be well worth the effort. This will be a steady pace ride and we will take it easy up the hills, nobody will be left behind.
If you are driving to the start point you can park in the long stay car park located next to Russell Deans Furniture Store (HX7 5LN). Failing that, there is plenty of on street parking nearby. Please don’t forget to bring some money and most importantly a bike lock for the café stop.
See you soon.
