About the route
Starting point
Near the spiral staircase - Tees Barrage, Tees Barrage Way, Stockton, TS17 6QA
Starting from the Tees Barrage, we travel through Portrack, Norton, out towards Carlton, Bishopton, Great Stainton over the A1M on to Aycliffe Village, through Newton Aycliffe, towards Old Eldon, crossing the A689 on to Kirk Merrington, North Close, passing nearby Spennymoor, towards Brancepeth before arriving at our destination.
We stop for refreshments and a comfort break at Lowfields Farm and Tea Rooms.
Our return journey heads towards the outskirts of Willington, Berry Edge, Binchester, Coundon, ang again through Old Eldon, Newton Aycliffe, Aycliffe Village, Brafferton, Great Stainton, Bishopton, before a slightly different path through Whitton into the Fairfield area of Stockton finally returning to the Tees Barrage.
