This is a challenging ride along the Trans Penine Trail, gently climbing along well surfaced roads through the Thurgoland Tunnel, aid spring and then Penistone. We ride along off road tracks to the heart of the Peak District-Dunford Bridge. We will always cycle at the pace of economic he slowest person & we will enjoy a well earned coffee stop in Penistone on our way back. Wearing a helmet is advisable but don't worry if you don't have one. Please ensure your bike is in good working order, Leaders are there to help but are not responsible for your bike. It is a good idea to bring a spare inner tube in case of punctures. You will need to bring a drink, snack & money for the coffee stop. This ride is part of the Tribute to Billie rides. In 1938 Billie cycled every day & set the Women's world record for the greatest distance cycled in a single year-almost 30,000 miles. She'd died in May 2014 aged 100! In tribute rides are planned every day for 2015 for women across the country following her route as closely as possible. If you need to contact me on the day please call 07913607865.
