A route recently reccied by group member Jayne, this is a relatively flat ride from Town Green, Aughton that takes in some of the great cycling countryside in and around Ormskirk, Burscough and Rufford. Our destination is the beautiful Mere Sands Wood, a 42 hectare nature reserve in the heart of West Lancashire.

The majority of the route is on hard surfaced main roads and some canal side cycle paths (weather permitting) and suitable for most bikes.

We will take our refreshment break at the cafe located at Mere Sands Wood. This is a very scenic route in some excellent cycling countryside and there will be plenty of photo opportunities along the way. (It wouldn't be a CYCLE:St Helens ride without plenty of photos!)

All riders will be required to wear a helmet and carry spare inner tubes and the means to be able to repair a puncture (assistance will be provided if required). Don't forget some money for the cafe stop.

This is a very scenic route in some excellent cycling countryside and there will be plenty of photo opportunities along the way. We want everyone to enjoy this very friendly group ride so it will be at a pace to suit all riders in the group and to take account of the weather conditions (usually between 9-11 mph). We will never leave anyone behind and we want everyone to enjoy the ride!
