Halewood Sports & Leisure Centre, Halewood

Travel through quite country lanes to the village of Hale, where you can discover the birthplace of John Middleton known locally as the Childe of Hale. It is said that at 9 feet 3 inches he was so tall that he had to sleep with his feet out of the bedroom windows. After visiting his home we pass the 14th Century church of St. Mary's where he is buried before we arrive at the Lighthouse for a break, after which we travel back to Halewood on quite country lanes. You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.
