Join us on some amazing rides, created in association with our friends at the National Trust. Make the most of some beautiful countryside, and great facilities for cyclists. If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. This ride starts out form the wonderful Occombe Farm on the edge of Torbay and uses quiet roads and bridal ways to explore the countryside nearby. The destination for this ride is the typical Devon Village of Denbury, but before we get there we will pass by the medieval fortress of Compton Castle with high its high curtain walls and towers. Once in Denbury there will be chance to stop for a break and refreshments at the Village green. After our stop we will meander our way back through Ipplepen and Marldon before getting back to Occombe Farm. Although short at 13 miles this is a hilly and challenging route as we climb away from the coast so make sure your gears are working well and be prepared to tackle the hills. As a charity the National Trust rely heavily on membership subscriptions and admission fees. For every visit your local National Trust Centre will receive some of this money to fund their conservation work so please let us know if you are a member.
