Gentle ride to the Olympic Park. This ride is suitable for all bikes but hybrids or mountain would be best. Using cycle paths & mainly quite roads we will cycle to the Olympic Park & have coffee at the Timber Lodge the cafe next to the velodrome. Some of the journey will be on main roads that can be busy. So to come on this ride you must be a confident of riding in traffic. The round trip is about 25 miles mainly flat with a steep hill to finish. Don't worry you can walk up it & nobody gets left behind. We will cross the Thames using the Woolwich ferry or the foot tunnel then get onto the Green Lane up to Strafford, returning the same way. There is an option to catch a train back. What to bring: rideable bike, water, snack, money for refreshments. Other useful things, a helmet, spare inner tube, cycle locks & lights. Please dress for the British weather, in layers and with a waterproof jacket. The Olympic park has lots of new things being added all the time it's a really lovely place to cycle around. In some areas there can be lots of children so we need to take care & may have to get off at times. There is plenty of space for us all. If you are coming by car it's a free car park at the Crook Log Leisure Centre. Look forward to seeing you.
