The Cycle Hub on Newcastle quayside will be the starting point. There is free parking onsite and the hub offers bicycle hire (these may need to be booked in advance) and refreshments.

Social ride for all. Distance of about 28 miles. The route is fairly flat and will run at a pace of 10-12mph. A no drop ride suitable for all bike types. Please bring a suitable spare inner tube and ensure bikes are in working order. We will leave the cycle hub and head down to the Millennium Bridge. From here we will follow the river as far as we can using Sutrans cycle route 14 (Keelman's Way). There will be a short on road stretch until we come to Bill Quay farm. We will continue on cycle routes from Wardley to Hebburn. There is a long stretch of road heading past the pedestrian tunnel and Bede's World. We will continue on cycle route and roads heading towards Mill Dam and finally sweep around to the beaches at South Shields. The route will lead us right along the sea front before we head up to Westoe Crown Village. A short break here where you can buy coffee and cake in Mac 'n' Alli's cafe. We will head back the way we came.
