The first part of the ride is mostly on busy main roads towards the historic town of Shakespeare's Prescot and then onto Bowring Park via Huyton where we will pick up the Liverpool Loop Line. We then head to Croxteth Hall and Park and then onwards towards Kirkby on the park paths. We will take our break at Espositos in Mill Dam Park. Our return will be on main roads and via the cycle path on the East Lancashire Road and the country roads towards our starting point at the Wellington.

Route rating

A route that takes in the historic town of Prescot and a view of The Shakespeare North Theatre, a section of the Liverpool Loop Line and Croxteth Hall and Parklands. Our refreshment break will be at Esposito's at Mill Dam Park in Kirkby and return via a short section of the East Lancashire Road cycle path to The Wellington Pub.

This ride is suitable for hybrid bikes (fitted with road and off-road tyres), mountain bikes and road bikes (with caution) and is mostly on hard surface roads, cycle paths and park paths with loose stone surfaced cycle paths around Croxteth Park

There will be cafe stop at 'Esposito's in Mill Dam Park Kirkby, so remember to bring along some money for a coffee and some of their lovely home-made cakes, sandwiches and wraps.

All riders will be required to wear a helmet and carry spare inner tubes and the means to be able to repair a puncture (assistance will be provided if required).

It is essential that everybody enjoys the ride so it will be at a gentle pace (average 9-11mph) but will be determined by the overall pace of the group. Always remember, we will never leave anyone behind!
