The South Downs Experience

This 29 mile rural route explores the lanes and hamlets of Hampshire with glorious views from the foothills of South Downs. The route starts in Southampton city centre, heads up the banks of the River Itchen and out into the countryside towards Bishopstoke.  Continuing as far as Upham where the route doubles back to the west of Bishop's Waltham through Wintershill and Horton Heath. There are two great stopping points en route  the Brushmaker's Arms in Upham and at the visitor centre at Itchen Valley Country Park.
