Rangers' Cabin, Marbury Country Park, Northwich, Cheshire.

This ride is all about giving you chance to get out into the beautiful country lanes on the outskirts of Northwich and stretch your legs - while still enjoying a chilled-out ride without the need for speed! We’ll start off at Marbury Country Park, which gives us a traffic-free warm up through the park, along Witton Brook and up through glades of silver birches to Anderton Boat Lift. Then we’ll head out into the quiet lanes that skirt Anderton, Barnton, Little Leigh and Comberbach - all very leafy and surprisingly peaceful. Our route takes us through Antrobus and Great Budworth, where we will have a well-deserved stop at Great Budworth Ice Cream Farm (which also serves a variety of cakes and hot drinks, as well as the famous ice cream). Then it’s a fairly short journey back through Comberbach to Marbury Country Park. The roads and lanes we use on this route are quiet and well-travelled by cyclists and the route itself is fairly flat. It’s a great ride for Breeze ladies who have enjoyed the shorter rides and fancy going just a little further, and a great introduction to venturing out on the roads. This ride is suitable for all bikes. It is recommended that riders bring an inner tube and puncture repair kit just in case. The ride roughly takes two hours cycling time with a couple of pit stops for a drink (and the all-important break for tea and cake) so please allow more time just in case the pace is slower than anticipated or we have a puncture. Newcomers to Breeze rides are very welcome, don't worry if you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch.   Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one don’t to worry as you can still take part.   If you have any questions then email me at [email protected].
