Starting point

Cumbria
CA28 7LR

A much loved (I think!) longer ride starting on the harbourside in Whitehaven and riding out of town on the cycle path. The path takes us all the way (pretty much) to Kirkland, and from here the route changes to country roads.

We shall climb the leaps and when we have got our breath back, we can continue the ride heading back towards Braithwaite where the legendary Wild Duck flies up another stinker. After that its quite calm really as we find our way back to Lillyhall and follow the cycle path back to the start point. This ride presents some challenges, but it is a great ride with some lovely scenery and nobody will be pushed harder than they want. If you want to walk up a hill thats fine, everyone will regroup at the top. This one is a bit more strenuous than the usual rides so its posted in advance to give you warm up time (there are other rides on beforehand which can help get you into the groove)

The ride can take a few hours so maybe bring a drink and a snack to keep you ticking over. Also, don't forget to pack a spare inner tube for your bike in case we need it. If you have any questions drop me a line. Please aim to be at the start about ten minutes before the start time, and if you find you cannot come please remember to cancel your place so someone else can take it and we aren't waiting around unnecessarily for you. Thanks!!

Partly cycle path, partly country roads. Not usually busy.

It may be possible to get refreshments at the Wild Duck....

Properly fitted helmets must be worn, and please bring a spare inner tube. I recommend a drink and a snack for this longer ride.

We never leave anyone behind
