Starting at The Old George at Sykehouse following the TPT to Snaith for a bevi then back through Cowick past the reservoir to the George. A lovely relaxed ride in the north eastern rural district of the Doncaster. One not to be missed.
Its nice and flat with only two short stretches of main road so easily doable for those of us who are a little challenged by inclines and not a lover of traffic.
You may need to be prepared to get your feet wet on this ride as the beginning of the TPT at Sykehouse has suffered with the flooding and is doubtful to have dried up by next week. We suggest you take 2 bin bags and something to use as a garter as i can confirm that the bottom of the path is solid and is safe enough to ride through! So come and have a paddle with us it all adds to the fun lol
The Old Mill Brewery is based in Snaith therefore there are several pubs to choose from serving fine cask ales; half a pint in a couple of them will suffice with a sandwich to keep us going till will end the ride back at The Old George where they offer a nice menu should you choose to eat out before driving home.
Everyone is welcome (check our main page for age group rules) If youngsters are accompanying you please just remember the fact they WILL get wet at the beginning of the ride, not quite a log flume but sodden feet for sure :/
We always ride to the speed of the slowest rider. Having said that remember it is expected that you will be able to ride at the least 7mph. We will endeavour to begin our ride at 11am promptly with all riders carrying any spare tubes/slime/tools they may need and of course the usual safety reminders are to be noted;
Please wear a safety helmet to british standard and appropriate clothing for the weather and to be seen safely.
Remember we always think safety as well as fun so check your bike, gears, brakes, tyres etc are in good order before you attend, as we try our hardest to avoid any accidents etc
YOU DO RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK
Touch wood we never need the following but a decent size plaster or wound covering in your bag isn't daft just in case and if you take medication and may need it while out remember to put it somewhere safe and that our leaders are aware, same applies for inhalers etc.
If you have any illness/condition/allergies please make the leader/sweeper aware of this and carry information of this along with any phone numbers that should be used in case of emergency somewhere safe but easy to recover upon your person and not in your car.
We certainly hope we never need the above but better to be safe than sorry should the worst occur.
Looking forward to seeing you, your ride leader/sweepers will be Karen Slack, Janet Wilkinson, Fiona Eland and Adrian Slack and we look to follow the following route; http://www.mapmyride.com/workout/478295669
