Starting from - Start:
Dalkeith High School / Community Campus (first left at the traffic lights heading East after Aldi's) and just at the start of the large car park area within the school grounds (near the Sustans sign). Postcode EH22 2PS.
Car parking (if you need to bring a car) can be ok within the school grounds but not always so please plan in advance. There is parking nearby in local housing estate. As it's a week day the car park may be busy but you can also park at Sainsbury's and cycle along to the meeting point. There are toilets in the campus if needed (but please allow time for that so we can leave sharp at 10am). EH22 2PS

Midlothian

A 16 mile rolling route from Dalkeith High School through Woodburn and onto via Lord Ancrum's Wood following the South Esk River, skirting Newbattle Abbey College grounds and then to Upper Dalhousie, onto Carrington, to Rosewell and back along the shared path to Daalkeit and back to the start. Rolling hills equivalent to 3 times round Arthur Seat (850') but nothing overly steep. There should be fabulous views of the Pentlands.

We will be cycling on a mix of shared paths, quieter roads and a short section of gravelly path that is ok for road bikes with bigger tyres. On the shared paths we will likely pass walkers, dogs and horses and maybe tiny humans on balance bikes, so please stay safe and keep other users safe.

We will stop at the newish cafe at The Steading at Rosewell (10 miles in to the ride).

Please bring the following with you: Bike in good and safe working order and well maintained, a helmet, spare inner-tube / puncture repair kit, a bike lock if you have one, layers (including a waterproof incase of rain), card or cash payment if you want to buy anything at our café stop. We don't leave anyone behind but if you find yourself in a position of being unable to continue with the ride for any reason, for example in the event of a puncture / mechanical that cannot be fixed at the roadside, then you need a plan for gettin and loads of chat.

We never leave anyone behind
