From The Leggers Inn we will start out along the Ossett Greenway to Horbury before heading down Green Lane to Pugneys, and then to Sandal Castle.
From there we will pass the Hepworth Gallery and through Thornes Park before heading back to Leggers via Green Lane, Horbury and Ossett.
Please be aware that there are quite a few hills along the way however nobody will be left behind.

After leaving The Leggers Inn this ride travels along the traffic-free Ossett Greenway and then through Horbury and Pugneys before arriving at Sandal Castle. There is a short steep section on the Ossett Greenway but ‘short’ is the keyword. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS RIDE IS OPEN TO ADULTS, 18+ ONLY. The Met Office forecast for 10:00 Sunday is currently suggesting full sun, a temperature of 17°C and winds gusting to 32 mph. Please check the forecast for yourself on Sunday morning. Please be aware that this is not a guided ride and that each participant remains responsible for their own actions or omissions at all times.

We will travel along a combination of greenways, a short section of canal bank and tarmac roads. We will encounter a reasonable amount of traffic on the tarmac sections so riders will need to be confident in those situations. Mountain bikes, hybrids and gravel bikes are most suited to this ride.

There will be a toilet visit at Pugneys on the way out. A circuit of the castle may be taken if time/conditions are favourable. With the exception of short stops to re-group, or to take in points of interest along the route, there are no other scheduled breaks on this ride though we may call for coffee at one of the cafes in Ossett on the way back to the Leggers Inn.

Helmets are mandatory on all Heavy Woollen Wheelers rides. Please bring a spare inner tube suitable for the tyres on the bike you are riding.
