The Granite Way

Come and join us for a nice leisurely ride along one of the most beautiful cycle trails in the country There is ample free parking and toilets at Okehampton Station, where we start our jaunt.  Okehampton Station has been lovingly restored and has a buffet restaurant, which we will visit at the end of our ride Bike Hire is available at £8.50 a day from Adventure Okehampton, who are based at the Youth Hostel opposite the station. If you do want to hire one, Give them a call on 01837 53916 before the day just to make sure there is one available for you when you arrive, for more information please see their website.  Bike hire includes free helmet and bike lock hire The Granite Way is a disused railway line which is mainly flat and a lot of it is tarmac surface which makes for really easy cycling.  It offers spectacular views over Dartmoor. There is a small section at the furthest end which is a little trickier but well worth it as it leads to the beautiful thatched tavern, The Bearslake Inn at Sourton.  It has a lovely beer garden, where we will enjoy lunch and a natter before our return journey 13 miles may seem a long way but I promise you that it’s easy and you’ll be glad you joined us because we’re going to have a lovely day!
