Organized by groups in the community, these rides are a great way to meet new people, explore your local area and to have fun riding your bike. You can find rides that are suitable for your level of experience and interests whilst enjoying being part of a social cycling community.

Start off at the Village Hall (Talybont Village Hall), Penpentre, Talybont on Usk. Ride departs at 10:00am

Gradual climb following the old tram track and single tracks along the Eastern side of Talybont Reservoir. After reaching the peak of the first climb, there is an option to drop down to Pentwyn Reservoir - this is one option for lunch. From this point will will then start our climb to the gap. on reaching the gap we have an option to ride through the gap and continue - following mainly roads back to base or ride through the gap - take in the views and u-turn following a more off-road route back to the starting point.

Most of the trail is rideable at walking pace and rollable. There are some sections of large / loose rocks, steep ascents/descents that may require walking / pushing your bike.

At the end of the ride, the option for a drink in the pub or local cafe.

MEET LOCATION - Village Hall, Penpentre, Talybont on Usk. TIME: Arrive for 9:30am prepare ready to set off and ride for 10:00am Intermediate advised /E-bikes and manuals welcome. 30KM / 650m Ascent - good level of fitness.

Bridleways and Singletrack. Expect gradual long ascents cycling over small loose rocks and trunks. Some steep sections with loose rock that require a reasonable level of skills but these are rollable and walkable if needed. The loop is roughly 30km and 650m total ascent.

Regular stops for the group to catch up / remain together. Will discuss lunch break stop with group on the day.

Clothing suitable for weather conditions. The Gap can be exposed so in rain / cold temperatures make sure you have several layers / waterproof layer and in summer make sure you have sunscreen / cool layers. Helmet Well maintained mountain bike suitable for the terrain Tool kit and spares for your bike (we can help, but you must have your own exit plan should you be unable to continue as a result of a maintenance issue). Plenty of liquid and snacks to see you through the ride (approx 4 hours) Money for a tea/ coffee stop (optional) Plenty of energy and good conversation
